You’ve RSVPed for our 6th Annual Picnic. You know about the vendors. You’re up to speed on the raffle. There’s only one thing left to do — sign up to volunteer for a 30-minute shift while you’re there!
We always have a blast at the annual picnic — but as it grows every year, we simply don’t have enough hands to make light work of this huge effort. That’s why we need you — our friends, neighbors and members of our community — to lend a hand! We’re expecting about 150 people this year. That’s 150 forks. 150 napkins. A ton of drinks. Not to mention 30 tables that need to be arranged to accommodate the 150 people!
Would you consider spending just 30 minutes during the picnic to help us: set up, prepare the food table, work with committee members and other volunteers to sell raffle tickets and welcome visitors to the picnic? And if you have a volleyball net you’d be willing to lend us for the evening, well, you’d have a special place in our hearts for that.
Please click here to visit our Sign Up Genius. Simply select an area of service (Welcome Table, Raffle, Food, Crafts) and time slot and click “sign up”! Please note that you will need to create a Sign Up Genius account.
We know you’ll have vendors to visit, old friends to catch up with and raffle items to win — we certainly don’t want to take you away from that! The good news is that the picnic lasts about four hours — we just need you for just 30 minutes!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us out! We couldn’t do it without you!
I really enjoyed the last picnic and i am wondering when do you guys intend to have the next one for summer? Is there one this summer? Thanks!
Hello Derek and all followers,
We have loved hosting the picnic for 8 years now. We have been short of volunteers and decided to host our social/fundraiser this fall during Deaf Awareness Week. HLAA-KC has an entire day to keep KC entertained. We will have vendors and our popular Lucky Drawing Fundraiser for many hot prizes! The only thing we are changing is it will be an ice cream social and a new location. The event is on Saturday, Sept. 24th 1-4:30. It will be held at the Olathe Community Club, Address: 1205 E Kansas City Rd, Olathe, KS 6606. We also working to have some open caption events during the day to work around our social and fundraiser.
Please stay tuned to our Facebook.com/HLAAKC and HLAAKC.com for future announcements. We are taking a break from monthly newsletters. We have been working hard for open caption initiatives for the state of Kansas and Metropolitan KC.
We just attended the national HLAA Convention 2016 in Washington DC. HLAA hosted the event with the International Federation of Hard of Hearing. We will pass along as much information to others so you can stay up to date on technology, apps, etc.
We will be announcing new open caption events soon. Please stay connected with HLAA-KC.
Thank you!
